Apple MacBook with butterfly keyboard. Avoid!

Avoid: MacBooks w/Butterfly Keyboards

These MacBooks all have the despicable butterfly keyboard that was very prone to breakage rendering the laptop useless. A class action lawsuit was filed, and customers who purchased these laptops were eligible for a $395.00 refund due to the crappy design. With M1 MacBook Airs starting around $849 or less for refurbished units, personally I would avoid these machines on the used market.

As you can see, any model made in 2020 or later doesn’t come with a butterfly keyboard. This is because Apple decided to get rid of the butterfly keyboard finally and started using a new scissor-switch keyboard. So if you have an Apple Silicon MacBook, you don’t have to worry about the butterfly keyboard.
