The previous record was 27 straight days in 2011 (the worst Summer of my Texas life). I do remember the 42 days of over 100 Dallas/Metro heat wave of 1980 as well, but I was a kid so I’m sure we were swimming.
In 2022 we had 68 over 100 days. This year, we will most likely pass that. Still can’t touch the 2011 record of 90 over 100 degrees days.
Our streak is in jeopardy today and today only as there is a tropical disturbance to our South (tropical storm Harold). Not much chance of rain, but a BIG chance to break our streak. The humidity has gone way up, and it’s a different kind of misery.
