I am a technology nerd, information gatherer, data accumulator, refurbisher, reseller, repair expert, and a big fan of the bossa nova. This website is sort of a digital workspace for all my digital stuff. I may post pictures, computer internals, how-to guides, video, audio, stuff I have for sale, who knows. It will be informational, and possibly entertaining.

I am 100% an ad blocker, and not a social media user. I will rant religiously about the long term harm exposure to advertising has on our personal psyche. Proud member of the EFF, and a true believer in privacy as the default. I use the Firefox web browser with 2 plug-ins, uBlock Origin, and Privacy Badger and if you are not using an ad blocker in your browser you haven’t been listening. Remember, “when it’s a free service, you are the product.” I am also a huge fan of Siloing your online activity. I use 4 different web browsers for different things (finance/banking, general browsing, private stuff, and other). This strategy prevents you from being tracked all over the internet via cookies, and I clear those when the browser is closed.
The higher a country’s ad spend was in one year, the less satisfied its citizens were a year or two later. Their conclusion: Advertising makes us unhappy.

The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation has issued an alert advising online users to install and use ad blockers. The advisory warns of hackers buying online ads highly placed in search results to pose as legitimate brands, in order to steal or extort money from targets.

…I am not interested in your conspiracy theories. Unless they involve discussions on the active war on Democracy and Governance by the radical Right.

I will also (mostly) rant about the right to repair, and how the planned obsolescence of electronics, or anything else for that matter, is harmful to the environment, and especially harmful to your wallet. Most older technology can be reused or repurposed, and is perfectly fine for most users. I am always on the lookout for “technology hacks” that can make your old electronics useful again.
